We write the year 1989 and the great big Glam Metal years are nearly count, when Pretty Boy Floyd, a band which formed 1987 in Hollywood, comes with their debut album.
After a few seconds the intro stops and PBF starts with “Leather Boyz With Electric Toyz” and you feel from the beginning of that song till the end of that album this distinctive energy PBF had and still have!
The next song “Rock N’ Roll (Is Gonna Set The Night On Fire)” was released as a video. It's a very dirty sleazy song with a great hookline.
“Wild Angels” starts as a ballad but later turns into a great glam rocker with “sing-along factor”.
” 48 Hours” is that song I hear every Friday evening when I drive home from work. A party song wich is unparalleled.
“Toast Of The Town” is another highlight and a bit strange too. The younger would say that it’s a cover version of Mötley Crüe, but that’s not really true. The Crüe released that song first in 2003, before that it was just a demo and PBF and Mötley Crüe have a little bit different lyrics.
“Rock N’ Roll Outlaws” is another great glam song with great hooks and a typical sleaze message.
Besides “Wild Angel”s we have another song like that called “Only The Young” which developed into an anthem for all Glam and Sleaze Rockers round the globe.
Only “The Last Kiss” could be a little minus point on that album, I like it but it sounds like a Christmas song.
“Your Mama Won’t Know” is a real smash hit, and with “I Wanna Be With You”, we have the second video release and the only real ballad on that album. Seriously, it’s not the best I’ve ever heard but it served its purpose.
So what can I say? “Leather Boyz With Electric Toyz” is definitely one of the best Glam Metal albums ever released and every person who call himself a sleaze or glam metal fan need this album on his or her shelf. It’s a punch in the face for every death or black metal fan, and a musical orgasm for every glam metal fan.
