If you like bands like Burning Saviours or Grand Front Irish then this is for you. The Swedish Whyte Ash is an amalgamation of the aforementioned bands.
Members from Burning Saviours (Mikael Monks and Henry Pyykkö) and members from Grand Frontiers (Isak Ahlman, Jimmy Thell and Andreas Eriksson) decieded that it was time to form a real fucking heavy metal band and Whyte Ash was born.
A three song demo was recorded in late February 2008.
Releasing the demo for free over the internet turns out to be a good choice. Lot of people download the songs and great reviews are published in both Sweden Rock Magazine and local Nerikes Allehanda.
Whyte Ash soon find themselves as support act for H.e.a.t and Sabaton at Club 700 in Örebro. After that amazing gig Whyte Ash signs to Denomination Records (Record Heaven/Transubstans Records). The debut album I Will Remain is recorded in January and February 2010.
Maybe a little too fast?
The album itself sounds good and has nice moments for lovers of muscle power metal. Think Metallica meets Pantera but with a solid background of typical heavy metal as we know from Iced Earth. Yet, something goes wrong.
Take the doomy "Die Alone". In itself a good song but the singer really let it lie, he is not in tune and lacks strength. Now I can imagine that this is no objection for many people, but the more I listen to the album much, the less the material appears to be.
And I want more than this. It does not jump out, it's a dime a dozen metal if you ask me.
Potential is certainly there, so I expect much more from the sequel to "I Will Remain ', let that be clear.
Mikael Monks - Vocals
