Bloody LipstiXX - 2011 - Demo
1. Keep On Rockin'
2. Welcome To The Show
German glamsters Bloody LipstiXX gave us a sneak preview of their upcoming demo, and who are we to turn that opportunity down...
It's beginning to dawn on me that Germany is becoming a serious force to be reckoned with, music-wise. It looks like wherever you turn, a new band is slowly breaking through the borders of their country. In my opinion, Bloody LipstiXX is one of those who started their fight to rise above the pack, and what better way to deliver a punch to the "industry" by recording.
"Keep On Rockin'" immediately differentiates Bloody LipstiXX from the rest, since the usual metal influence in German glam, is replaced by a punky, more old school-sounding vibe.
Rather than aiming for technically perfect riffs and melodies, the emphasis here is more Pretty Boy Floyd-like in it's simple efficiency.
Of course, there is still the typical guitar harmonies and other techniques borrowed from their metal countrymen, but in no way is this overtaking what the steady back-beat and vocals bring.
Song-wise, "Keep On Rockin'" is a good greeting card for the band. The high-velocity lyrics accompanied by a rocking drum and bass backbone, and the dueling guitar icing on the cake, deliver a package that sets a new standard for German glam rock.
"Welcome To The Show" is probably the better show starter than the previous song, mostly due to the story-telling vocal line in the verse, but once again the pace is high and there's no breathers.
I find it more than interesting to see that our brothers to the East are jumping on the glam wagon in greater numbers than ever before, and I'm sure there'll be a huge legacy when we look back on this in our old days. Let's see if Bloody LipstiXX is part of that legacy!
