I discovered these guys via Sandy on youtube, with their video for "My Religion" and got hooked. This is revival in its purest form: nothing new, just tons of the good old stuff.
"Steel Of Swabia" came out as their first effort, and what an effort it was: it catches the ear upon first listen, which is a rare advantage these days.
Germany's addition to the new wave of glam/sleaze is packed with anthem-like heavy metal headbangers with an extreme theatrical undertone, and this is so very welcome as a counterbalance for the more melodically-driven Swedish bands.
The only disadvantage to this riff-driven music, is that there's not really room for a ballad. "Against The World" does not work that well as it was meant to do, when it's being sandwiched by full-on rockers like "Steel Of Swabia", "Let's Get Freaky" and the excellent "My Religion". Kudos for the effort though.
One of the other big plusses on this album, and most of the albums nowadays, is the awesome production. In a time where music is being slapped around your ears constantly, it's a treat to hear that most of these underground records come out as professional as it gets.
After a first half containing (in my opinion) the best work, the rest of the cd just sort of passes along with another pack of great songs, exploring the borders of their genre where possible but keeping it all in Dynamite-line.
"I Hate Hip Hop" as a closing song, is not what usually adds anything of value to an album, but rather than a novelty song, it's a typical Kissin' Dynamite song with more juvenile lyrics, hailing rock n' roll and condemning the prefab shit that pollutes the airwaves now. I can live with that :)
