Dirty Glory - 2011 - It's On!
1. Mr Jack
2. The Energy
Dirty Glory hail from Sau Paulo and this is their first EP which is still free to download from their website www.dirtyglory.com. Mr Jack has a lightly aggressive sound, sliced apart by the guitar. Jimmi Ryder’s vocals were lower than I expected but don’t detract anything from the song. The unclear structure makes it a little hard to listen to but all the right components for a great song are there. The Energy has a more carefree tone, bouncy and energetic in its delivery. I still found it a little over-produced however, being one who likes my music with a live-like quality. It’s catchier than the opener but with less attitude. The last track, Sweetie, opens with heavier drums and a faster rhythm. I would have liked it more had it continued in the same vein that it opened, rather than slowing down to the type of ballad you’d expect to hear from a heart-broke drunk before bursting back out tempo wise with rather messy backing vocals constantly in the background. Overall, a mixed EP which makes it hard to pin these guys down to particular influences. It does, however, prove Ryder’s comment that there is hard rock in Brazil and it certainly ain’t that bad either!
