The four guys from Stuttgart, Germany that make up Helldorados formed the band in 2009 and have been very busy on the live scene with hundreds of gigs over the past 3 years.
This is Sleaze metal in its purest form: dirty and raw with an attitude. The sound is simple and in your face but that doesn't change the fact that the musicians involved are very good. The whole album as a result is well played and sounds really tight.
The production is also just right with the four piece sounding like a garage band, exactly as it´s supposed to in this genre.
Since I´m from Sweden I get hear a lot of new Sleaze metal and quite frankly I wasn´t that impressed with Helldorados at first but they sure grow on you.
There are some songs that are really good such as “Double Dealer”, “Gone” and “Got Laid” and then you got a couple of tracks that make you go 'Hmm, I´ve heard that one before..." but in a good way. The tunes in question are “You Live, You Learn, You Die”, “Shout Out” and “Hunter”.
The latter two have a sound that reminds me a lot of early Crashdiet, the “Rest In Sleaze” era.
Unfortunately the ballads don´t have the same quality as the rest of the album and that is a shame. But since this is their debut it´s absolutely worth checking out. The music is catchy and has some really good sing a long choruses.
This sets rather high hopes for the future and if Helldorados can take the next step in their career they could become a band to reckon with on the music scene.
