Heaven's Edge was a late 80s, early 90s glamrock band that followed the typical end-of-the-first-wave period style of glam.
Much in the vain of the greats of earlier years, Heaven's Edge combines the simple riffs of bands like Mötley Crüe and adds a touch of more technical, more modern rock.
After a short ambient intro, "Play Dirty" busts balls from second one. Clearly paying hommage to their big influences, they follow up with "Skin To Skin", which is a glam top hit no matter where they are on the timeline.
Obviously, there have to be ballads on the disc too, and Heaven's Edge present both the power and classic variant. "Find Another Way" adds more punch than "Hold On To Tonight", but both stand very powerful in their own way.
The main song on this album is clearly "Can't Catch Me" for me, because of the amazing rhythm switches that throw you off balance all the time. They still work though, and I haven't been able to get this song out of my head since the first listen.
While there are no fillers (and only killers) on this album, I will conclude by mentioning "Daddy's Little Girl" as a must-hear. Another piece of reworked classic glam rock that brings you right back to the beginning of the golden age of the Sunset Strip.
The album in its entirety is well worth the listen, although it may take a few times before all pieces of the puzzle fall into place...
