This is my first encounter with Joey Summer, even thou this is his third release.
First impression is unfortunately that the production is rather poor, which is really too bad. Since this is a top nudge album. Both song wise and musician wise, with a perfect combination of mid-tempo songs and ballads. It´s all very well written and preformed. Just like it´s been taken from the golden era of AOR, the 80´s.
There is a greatness to the hole performance from all contributing musicians that just brings a very welcome harmony to the listener. The singers voice is really great and laid back and it flows right into the harmony with the rest of the instruments.
But as mentioned before the production ain´t of the same class. Unfortunately it sounds a little bit like a demo and that is just a shame. Be course I could otherwise easily proclaim this album as one of the greatest of 2013.
Now I can´t do so as it doesn´t sound so great as it is due to the production. But the songs have the quality for the nomination!
So just as I absolutely will check out the two prior releases from Joey Summer, I think you should give this album a chance.
