It´s always a gamble to listen to your old idols new deals.
Especially when you havn´t heard them in a long time. This was
the case when I started to listen to 220 Volts new album. I listen
a lot to the band in my teens then sort of lost track of them. So
when their new album was released I was very curious on how it
would sound. Could they deliver the music I remembered?
So it was whit some sort of mixed emotions that I started to listen
to the album.
With new singer Anders Engberg I knew that it wouldn´t sound
exactly the same as it did in the 80´s. But the music then?
Well a lot of years has passed since then so naturally the guys as
matured since the 80´s, and so has the music. Today 220 Volt
brings us music that is more in terms of Power Metal then the raw
Hard Rock that they played then. But the change is not in any way
a bad thing. It´s very much a well written album whit high quality
songs and a great production.
Spin after spin the album still stands strong and have no intention
of wearing out. It´s all just Swedish Metal at it´s finest hour. With
songs like the title track “Walking in Starlight” and “Broken
Promises”, “Stranded”, Through the Wastelands” the mixture of
uptempo and mid tempo tracks are complete. And just to top it all
off the album closes with the ballad “Guiding Light”. Nice work
This is all just so good as I hoped it would be and I´m glad to say
- Welcome back 220 Volt
