Did you miss Wig Wam ?
Well now Åge Sten Nilsen is back with his new band Ammunition.
And he sure has reloaded. The band picks up the fallen flag of
Wig Wam´s rock n roll style Glam Rock. This album sounds like a
mixture of the two Wig Wam albums “Wigwamania” and “Non
stop Rock n Roll”. It´s almost impossible not to compare the two
groups as Åge´s voice is such a big part of the bands sound and
the both play the same Rock n Roll driven Glam Rock.
Some of you might have seen Wig Wam as a comic band like
Steelpanther, but I assure you that that ain´t the case with
Ammunition. This band truly breaths straight up Rock n Roll at
it´s best. You get a adrenaline pumped music experience from the
first accord til the last, except on the occasional ballads. But the
rest is just rocking and it´s really done in a great way. I really love
the way the music speaks to the party animal in you.
-Just let us open the beer and have a party!
The music genuinely makes you happy. I for one will listen to this
album frequently this summer.
And the songs? Well were should I start?
Let me start with opening track “Silverback”. This is a great
opening track for the album, it got a rather heavy groove to it with
a pumping bass in the bottom to carry the song forward. “Give me
a sign” and “Shanghaied” flow more in the Wig Wam style, but not
in a bad way. “Tie me down”is a real rocking track that makes you
want to party all night. “Road to Babylon” is a great tranquil and
tender ballad. “Take out the enemy” has one of the most fun intro
I´ve heard in a long time, a chant of the chorus accompanied by
hand claps. Then it rolls into a straight up Rock n Roll song. “Hit
me (with your bombs)”is another straight up Rock n Roll track. It
just continues in the same great style. And it´s all made with a lot
of love for the genre. You can´t fake the joy this music spreads.
The opening line to the track “Do you like it” goes
- Welcome to the show, do you like it?
Well the answer to that is very simple. YES we love it !
