Frank Dimino has his roots in the 70´s Hard Rock as a founding
member of cult band Angel. And even thou that it is very clear
listening to this album, this is not the glam rock genre as Angel
was know for. This is much more traditional 70´s Hard Rock.
You can find influences from most of the big great bands of the
70´s, and even some from the new bands from the end of the 70´s.
Bands like Saxon and Judas Priest and their early works comes to
mind. Actually at some point Frank Dimino sounds quit a bit like
Biff Byford of Saxon.
This is very melodic with great melodies, and got a excellent blend
of up-tempo, mid-tempo and ballads. Everything about this album
breaths and sounds like the 70´s. Well maybe the production is
little bit up to date, but I think you get the picture.
And it almost felt like you have found a lost gem from the 70´s
when you have listen to this album a couple of times. I´m very
impressed that once again a band have managed to create an album
that holds the feeling and quality of the decade of the birth of
I think this album is rather amazing as it got it all, great singer,
thunderous drums, pumping bass, awesome organ, big guitars and
Just to name a few of the songs on the album that is maybe just a
little bit better then the rest, well for the moment it just might
change in time as all is very high class.
The up-tempo songs that stands out for me at the moment is
“Rockin in the City” and “ Tonight´s the Night”. Among the
mid-tempo song I would say “Sweet Sensation” and “Never Again”.
The ballads is always a bit tricky to classify as it mostly is about
emotions as in what mood you are in at the time, but I really like
“Even Now”. “Stones by the River” could actually be the best
song on the album. There are so much emotions and space for
applying the lyrics to your own life.
I really recommend you all to check this album out as it is really a
great release from a great band!
