I have by purpose Waited to write this review after the release of the album in the Spring of 2016. The reason for this was a couple but the most determinative reason was that I wanted to see if I felt the same way about the album when the year came to an end as I did when it was released.
Yes, I know that it´s rather odd but since I had no obligations to write the review in terms of it being a promo from a record company or from the band, I felt that I could do as I wanted. And I really wanted to write this review, you´ll understand why later.
Tigertailz are back whit their first full length album since 2007 years “Thrill Pistol”. A lot has happened to the the band since then. Line up changes and sorrows, but I won´t go in to that now. After all this is about the album not the road that lead to it.
So what did I expect from “Blast”? To be totally honest I had no clue what so ever. I was just hoping that it would blow me away. But then again don´t we all hope for that one of our favorite bands releases a new album?
So I was actually very surprised when they did just that. I can now say whit total honestly that “Blast” is the best album of 2016. I was right away totally taken by this new album and new sound.
Yes I would say that it´s a new sound on this album, but still it sound so much Tigertailz that you know it´s them. But they bring us a sound that I would describe as Glam Rock for 21 Century. Do not confuse it whit the 70´s Glam even if they done a killer cover of “Dynamite” by Mud on it and also the Eurovision tryout reject “Pipped it Popped it”, that is a tribute to the stars of that era. No this is so much more up to date and a real fresh wind in the music scene of today. The rest of the songs of the album breaths of the passion and sound of the 70´s Glam but are really no copy paste of it. It´s so much more. It´s fresh and clever song writing from the boys in the band. All just really sticky and sing a long friendly.
From the opening track “Just For One Night” til the closing with “God´s Country” we have been served high quality music that will stand the test of time. This was one of the reasons that I waited with this review. To see if I would like the album just as much now as I did when I first heard it. And I did, even a little bit more. Another reason was that it´s so much more fun for me to be able to write that this is the best album of the year and knowing that it is, and not just saying so and hoping to be right in the end of the year
So I would like to say -
Hats of to
For presenting us with the best album of 2016!!!
I had a BLAST listening to it and I hope that everyone else also had a similar experience.
