Slade Live @ Öja Krog Ystad, Sweden 01-08-14
Slade was on tour with Sweet and Smokie this summer. A tour with
rather many dates in Sweden brought them to the very South of
Sweden. A little town called Ystad.
There is one thing to know about Slade. That is even with their
rather many radio hits in the 70´s and 80´s, the band is most of all
a live band. I had the pleasure to see the band at Sweden Rock Festival in 2012, were they had an evening slot at 22.00, hitting
the stage just before headliner Mötley Crüe. It´s not that show I´m
gonna review here now, but I just feel like I have to point out that
it was a magical experience, and they were so much better then
So back to this show in Ystad. As I was hurrying to the gig, I was
thinking that this was a perfect ending to a wonderful summers day.
And how right I was. The band was in a great mood and sparkling
with energy.. To my relief my expectations weren´t to high. Slade
delivered exactly what we wanted, all their hits and some more in
a great mixture. The hole crowd were singing along in every song
word for word, it was a party in my liking.
I know I get a little over exited when it comes to Slade, since I
think they are one of the most underestimated rock bands in history.
But every time I have seen the band there have been people I´ve talked to afterwards that have been swept of their feet by the show, and they weren´t fans of the band to start with.
And quit frankly who can blame them? Slade is an excellent live
band, one of the best I´ve ever seen.
These men are giving it all they got every time they are on stage.
And I´m so impressed by Dave Hill. The man just can´t stand still! He´s running around, skipping, jumping and joking with the crowd.
It´s just amazing.
And the set list ! This set list is a little shorter then the one at
Sweden Rock Festival, but still it´s .... Well just read below

I once was told that Mike Tramp, nowadays when he does his
acoustic tours, said that he could n´t believe how amazing his set
Let me tell you, he´s got nothing on Slade !
If you never seen Slade live, do so. Even if you aren´t a fan now ,
give them a chance , you just might get yourself a new favorite
And to those of you who don´t have the chance to see them I can
recommend the album “Slade on Stage”.
The best live album ever made !
