Baby Jane Interview
Hey Baby Jane, how are you guys doing?
Manx:Hey! We are just fine enjoying Swedish summer, 25% sun and 75% rain.
So you have just released an album 'in the spotlight' five years after you guys formed, what took so long?
Manx: I guess we are not known for being the fastest band in the world but taking its time had its reasons, first of all we had to find the right guys who wanted to put it out and Rambo was an excellent choice in distribution in Sweden.Except from distribution we have done it all ourselves under our own lable Live To Fight. That means its a real DIY story that turned out pretty nice after a while.I've got to say, it has been worth the wait! Which song on the album is your personal favourite?Manx: Thank you! Its a hard choice but I think The Secret Lies and My Behavior turned out really good.
How do you describe your music to a person who hasn't heard your music before?Manx: Hardrock with tons of balls!
Are you planning a tour for the album? It would be awesome to see you guys come back to the UK!
Manx: Yeah, we would really need a good booking agency I tell you.
No tour planned yet but it looks like we are going to Germany, UK and Italy this fall/winter.
What else have you got planned for the rest of the year?
Manx: I guess we also start writing songs for our next studio album.
So how did you guys meet and decide on the name 'Baby jane'?
Manx: I was the last to join the band. Baby Jane is 4 childhood friends from a small town in Sweden, meeting up in Gothenburg to create rock history + me.
I knew Mikey from some party nights in Gothenburg and I had heard about Freddie Wizzp.
I met the whole bunch on an afterparty and the rest you know.
The name Baby Jane has no deeper meaning - its just a cool name!
Do you think that living in Sweden, a country famous for it's new wave of sleaze music, has helped with your success?
Manx: Sweden is great at that way its support young musicians with organisations supporting bands with rehearsal space etc.
Growing up here and play an instrument is very common and alot of people are playing in bands.
+ very early the computer and internet became more popular than TV.
I guess it was easy for swedes in bands to get the right influences from the past and present bands, and eachother.
We also have great clubs in gothenburg bringing awsome bands over and a great festival culture where we have watched some of the best and greatest rock bands in the world perform live.
Baby Jane are not a typical sleaze hair band.
We all come from different backgrounds influenced by metal, rock and punk which creates a cool sound.
You have been part of the Mama Trash family, and played Trash Fest. How was that?
Manx: It was cool and a great show!
You have a section on your website where fans can ask you questions. You have also hosted an online party where fans could chat to you guys directly. How important is it to interact with your fans?
Manx: Very important. Our fans is the reason why In The Spotlight exsists.
We have the greatest supporters and the following gets larger every day.
We love playing live and meet everyone but in the meanwhile its great to interact online
Thanks for your time! Now please tell us a random fact about yourselves!
Manx: I think we are one of the tallest band of earth with our average height of 1.90 cm
